Le Grand Colbert

An institution in itself !

First of all because of its location: Located a stone's throw from the Palais Royal but especially from the Com茅die Fran莽aise and the Th茅芒tre du Palais Royal, it is this place where all the Parisian Theater' beautiful people get together before and after the plays performed nearby in one of the theatres mentioned. It is not uncommon to meet comedians, producers, journalists and other local celebrities.

By going there regularly, you may learn to recognize them 馃槉

The brasserie is also very close to the former and splendid Biblioth猫que Nationale Richelieu (the Biblioth猫que Nationale has been transferred to the 13th arrondissement of Paris, on the banks of the Seine, in these four glass towers placed one in front of the other like open books but the old site, known as Richelieu, still exists and is currently under renovation work with a reopening scheduled for 2022).

This Brasserie has actually existed since the 17th century and passed successively into the hands of several owners including Colbert, the famous minister of Louis 14. It even became a novelty store during the 19th century to become a restaurant again until today.

This Brasserie has actually existed since the 17th century and passed successively into the hands of several owners including Colbert, the famous minister of Louis 14. It even became a novelty store during the 19th century to become a restaurant again until today.

It was part of the Galerie Colbert, which then had to compete with the Passage Vivienne.

The most impressive is the ceiling height of 6 meters of the restaurant, the Art Deco decoration and the menu made of fresh and mainly French products, small producers.

Desserts and pastry are provided in turn by young pastry chefs who rotate and follow one another every few months.

As in all major breweries, there is a generous menu of oysters and seafood, including lobster.

We then order a seafood platter for 2, 3 or 4 and we let ourselves be guided to taste all this with all the utensils provided!

Otherwise, steak, veal blanquette or duck confit are to die for!

Don't forget the cheese before dessert.
